I just installed Linux Mint 18.3 and Netflix won't play on Chrome (even with user agent switcher installed) - please help!

Hello everyone

I installed Linux Mint 18.3 last night (loving it so far!) and am having trouble playing Netflix on Chrome. Various posts I've read say to install Chrome and/or install User-Agent Switcher and that should solve the problem. I have done all this and still Netflix does not work. Meh.

I'm a bit out of my depth (and out of the game...the last time I was really au fait with computers - apart from years of Windows dross - was back when DOS was ruled and Windows was an annoying GUI. I'd really appreciate a hand!

Oh yeah, and the error message I get is "Error Code: M7121-1331-P7". Netflix says that this is a problem with the browser?

I followed these instructions (https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/can-no...ely-heres-how/) which unfortunately have not worked.

Any ideas anyone?

Ta :-)

Firefox is supposed to work out of the box. The link you used is pretty old.

Netflix on Chrome works fine for me on Mint 18.3, with no need for User-Agent Switcher.

Can I check which version of Chrome you have installed?

Code:
dpkg -l "*chrome*"

Also note that you can get Netflix on the more recent versions of Firefox in Linux as long as you're not using private browsing mode.

Don't follow outdated Danny Stieben tutorial from 2014!

Do install the latest Chrome direct from Google: https://www.google.com/chrome/

It should "just work"!
