I just formatted a partition FAT32 do I need to mount it to write to it in Linux?

My primary OS is Windows XP Pro., sp 2. Recently I installed Suse 10.1 and I'm using KDE. I just formatted a partition FAT32. Do I now need to mount it to write to it in Linux? When I installed Suse it mounted in 3 spots, . . .windows/C, . . .windows/D and fd0. (I'm not sure of the syntax because I'm just going from memory, but I am sure that there were 3 mount points and 2 for sure were windows and fd0)

If I do need to mount the newly formatted partition, how would I do it?

Thanks,

royeo

Yes, you do need to mount the partition to use it. You would mount it by issuing a command such as 'mount -t vfat /dev/hda4 /mnt/fat32 -o uid=royeo,gid=users,dmask=0027,fmask=1037,noexec', or by putting a similar line in /etc/fstab. If you do a search on the forum you should see plenty of information on how to mount a fat partition.
