Hello :)

I'd cut out things you don't need like any servers you won't use (apache, ftp, mail, dns..). Just browse your installed programs and remove the ones you don't need.

2. Press CTRL ALT and the + or - key on the number pad.

3. You can grab gaim from http://gaim.sf.net And install there. If you try to get the latest you'll be in for a huge headache. Grab one from the 0.5x release series, that'll likely work better on your system (you also probably have an RPM for it even though you did an 'everything' install..).

Cool

1) I realise the whole theory of creating space... my question is how :)
where do i go to browse these installed components??

2) doing that only goes to 640x480... and thats all bad :)
I was told to use Xconfigurator... i went in there and when it get to the self checking stage it says its all bad :(
I have on board GeForce MX440 128MB shared memory from my shuttle FN41 board

3) I did the simpleton install... got it to work... but now i dunno how to log on to my icq or msn??
I have L-ICQ running if someone wants to talk to me and help me :)

my ICQ# is 19244868
msn is mr_svperstar@hotmail.com

how do i link Gaim to them??

Thanx :)

To view, install and/or remove RPMs (software),
take a look a Package Management:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...anagement.html

To change resolutions and configure X, follow these steps:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...a-xconfig.html

To configure Licq,
load Licq, click on System, click on User Functions and click on Register User.

For more help and information on how to use RedHat 7.3,
take a look at the official RedHat 7.3 Manuals :study:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...HL-7.3-Manual/

I haven't tried the program add/remove thingie yet
will do it later when i have time :)

i was talking about GAIM... not Licq (i said i had Licq set up already incae someone wanted to teach me over that...

but i figured out GAIM and thats all good now :)

ive done the whole xconfigurator thing 100 times
my onboard video card isnt listed... and i have no idea how to set up the unlisted device in reference to the "CLOCKCHIP" and the "VIDEO MEMORY" as it is onboard?? so is it 128mb... cos thats borrowed from sys ram!!

whatever ive tried stuffs up at the "STARTING X" test stage... unless i select res below 800x600
i want 1024x768

any tips?
or do i need a new graphics card and thats the only way around it??

Thanx again :)

You probably just need that, and follow the instructions pretty closely.

Cool

Once you get the driver installed, look at the Screen section in the XF86Config mentioned in the above post. You'll see something called:
Default Depth

You'll want to note this as that's the line you will change. That will correspond to something like:
Code:

    Subsection "Display"
        Depth      8
        Modes      "1024x768" "800x600" "1280x1024"
        ViewPort    0 0

You'll wanna change the "Modes" part of that to show your preferred default mode first (as I have shown in the above example).

HTH
