A guide like this:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword
Can be found through googling. The essence being:
Bring up the GRUB menu.
Select the option with "recovery mode".
Select "drop to root shell prompt".
Type the following on the command line:
Code:
passwd <your username>
Follow the prompts.
Type:
Code:
exit
Select "Resume normal boot".

Just type in google "how to recover/reset root password in ubuntu" and you will get many links to sort out the things.
