How are you installing XP?
What happens if you boot from the install CD from XP? |
Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,
Are you trying to install Windows from withing your Linux installation? That would be impossible. Just as repo said, what happens if you boot from the Windows CD? Also it's a lot better practice to first install Windows and Linux next. Linux can cooperate with other OS whilst Windows gives you a pretty hard time. Kind regards, Eric |

Hello,
You could go for an install of Windows in a virtual machine, so look into VirtualBox, VMWare, or others. Are you trying to boot from an official Windows CD when you say your laptop doesn't boot from CD? Does it boot from other CDs or not at all? If you don't go for the virtualization and prefer to have a dual boot, then you'll need to perform a clean install, the best is to start first with Windows and next Linux. Kind regards, Eric |

We he laptop boots, press esc or f12 or f1 depending on the brand of your laptop, and set the cd as the first boot option. Ten boot from the windows XP cd and install windows. |

Please do not use texting shorthand here--- you, please, are, etc. So who DID install Fedora? Regardless, you will need to get a root password sooner or later. I would solve this before trying to install Windows. OR: Install Windows, and then re-install Fedora. You'll also need to get it booting from a CD to do any of this. |
