I have a hp notebook built for a korean and having trouble with the korean/english switching key.

As in the title, my Endeavour linux doesn't seem to recognize the korean/english switching key so I have to use 'ctrl+space' with Uim.

I'd really love to make it work since it makes a big difference in productivity using just one key instead of 'ctrl+space'

Give me any hint pls

What sort of key are you talking about? a physical key on your laptop? A dedicated keyboard key?
You should look into you DE's hotkey or keyboard shortcuts settings, possibly ctrl-space is configurable.

This is the key to the right of SPACE, is it not?

Firstly, make sure that it's actually doing something by running xev in the terminal and seeing if the key registers as Keycode 130 (Hangul). Then check /usr/share/X11/xkb/evdev and make sure that it has the lines
Code:
<HNGL> = 130;	// Hangul Latin toggle
<HJCV> = 131;	// Hangul to Hanja conversion
Then check that /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/kr includes
Code:
partial function_keys
xkb_symbols "hw_keys" {
    key <HNGL> { [ Hangul       ] };
    key <HJCV> { [ Hangul_Hanja ] };
};
If all is as it should be, you need to configure Xfce. Run the configuration editor and go to Keyboard layout. You should have an option korean:hw_keys — if it's not there, add it.
