I have a grub loader repair problem.
I have ubuntu linux and windows xp with a grub loader on my pc. Recently I downloaded the latest updates to ubuntu and upon completion, it said I must do a restart. Upon booting back up it got to the grub screen with the list of choices of the various ubuntu versions or windows xp, but to my horror instead of windows xp it said "other operating system". I clicked that and it gave an error message saying it did not recognize the operating system. How do I restore the link to boot up in windows xp?
Any help is appreciated.

Can you post the contents of

/boot/grub/menu.lst here
please? I'll try to help out.

In the ubuntu terminal window run the command

'sudo fdisk' without the quotes and hit enter and it should ask for your root password.

After entering your password copy and paste the result post.

I am guessing your XP has a recovery partition and that is where grub wants to boot.
