I don't want to use a password
Linux insists that I use a password to log on, but no one else uses my PC or is likely to. Can I make the system password-free?

answer is probably yes.
It is always a good idea to have root/su password protected, thus ensuring you know when you are root/su. What we need to know is what you are running. Distro and Desktop Enviroment (esp the Session Manager) |
Oh, sorry...it's Xandros with KDE, but I do not know the name of the session manager.

Take a look in Control Centre -> System Administration -> Login Manager -> Convenience I'm using KDE 3.4 so not sure if it's the same on Xandros Pete |
It appears to be the same. So should I select "auto-login" or "enable password-less logins"? I don't know the difference.

I would guess "auto-login" to be honest I've never used it, just know the options are there I interpret "password-less logins" as being you still get a login screen but do not need to enter a password Whereas "auto-login" will take you straight to the desktop Sorry I can't be more positive Pete |
