i don't understand downloading???
when you are downloading something in the internet and you are in a cyber cafe,is it true that you are actually reducing the bandwidth of the other users and the internet goes down?
If that is true? what do you do to make sure that the internet bandwidth remains steady even if there are people downloading? |
On my own knowledge (not so much expert on this), yes, it means you are the one using the internet most of the time because your download is not interruptible, so you are the one connected to the internet always and get most of the bandwidth. To ensure steady bandwidth share among computers, the administrator should allocate a bandwidth limit for each user, for example, each computer only gets 128 kbps. This way every computer can do as much as they want on their internet without compromising others. (I am not very technical on this) >__<

In a setting like an internet cafe, the limiting factor is typically the total bandwidth of the cafe's connection to the internet. So downloading a file will have at least some impact on the other users in the cafe.
In an ideal setup, the bandwidth would be fairly shared between the users, but this is not always easy to achieve. |
Absolutely; the cafe has a certain bandwidth that it pays its ISP for; this is shared between all users.
The analogy of water pipes works quite well here. Theoretically, its possible to limit each user so that the bandwidth is fairly shared. |
