I created a hard disc and it thinks its a url

I tried creating a short cut to a hard disc to look at my windows xp hard disc from red hat linux 8.0. I checked the device name and partition magic said it was /dev/hda1. When I do make the hard disc I can't view it. Instead it's acting like it's a url and the error that pops up is Malformed URL file:

What can I do so it doens't recongize it as a url? Any help will be great.

mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/win
