I changed my users mount to root, and now i can't enter or change it!

Ugh! About 2 hours after I installed linux, I tried to enable Wireless networking, but it said access denied, SO I saw that root has access to anything, and I set my ONLY users mount to root, and now it says ignoring HOME/.drmc

I have tried CHMOD and stuff, but it NEVER works! PLEASE HELP ME. I made a stupid mistake, and I need help.
Anyone here able to bail me out???

First of all, calm down. This sort of problem is very common when you start out in Linux.

OK, now that you've cooled down a bit, can you explain again what's happened? I'm not very clear about it. I think you said that you set the permissions under root and that now, as a normal user, you cannot change the permissions? Is that it? If so, this is normal: only root can change permissions in the root folder - so if you're trying to do this as a normal user it's no wonder you're having problems.

Desktop effects you ask? Screen turns white then they disable again.
So far, ubuntu for me is terrible. Glad i have a dual boot to fix any ubuntu errors.
Any Help?
ATI Graphics card,
ATI graphics acceleration enabled.

Ubuntu is probably one of the more user friendly distributions there is.

The white screen and Beryl, is a problem with the ATI driver. I'm not real familiar with the fix. Search over at http://www.ubuntuforums.org and you'll probably find posts on the problem. Unfortunately its down right now, or I'd try to give you some links.

Only other thing I can think of, is install an IRC client, and log on to the "Freenode" network. Once connected, join #ubuntu-effects.
