Did you try getting to the virtual terminal? On the login screen, press CTRL+ALT+Fn (could be F1 or F2). You will get a text login. Try your password there. It is possible something went GUI. If you are able to get in through command line, you will atleast have more options in your hand to think about ...

take a look at this article : http://linuxgazette.net/107/tomar.html Note : do not use " passwd root " since you do not want to change your root password, instead issue " passwd yourusername ". I hope that helped. |
is there anyway it can be reinstall ubuntu by the command
|
Well, the idea is not to have to reinstall the OS if it can be solved by simpler ways. Of course, you could install ubuntu using any of the available media or in one of the other ways.

i have added ubuntu onto a usb using what ubuntu provided on the webpage what would i do to boot it to my netbook
|
Just plugin your usb and reboot.
if that did't work (the usb stick did not boot), try to enter your mother board boot list and boot the usb stick. that depends on your mother board, I hit F2 to get the boot menu. |
