Do you have samba installed and configured?

You need to provide more information on your windows network. For example, do you have a domain? How is the share configured?

See if you have a samba-doc package you can install. It supplies three Samba 3 books. There are two that are very useful, "Samba 3 by Example" and "Samba 3 Howto & Reference Guide".
