I cannot see CDC-EEM module on Ubuntu13.1

I am starting with Linux (again) and have downloaded Ubuntu 13.1 onto a stick, to try it out. My reason for doing so is to communicate with a Lego Mindstorms EV3 brick following Ralph Hempel's notes and his ev3dev system. He says 'Also check to see if you have the cdc_eem and cdc_subset modules available for your host machine.'

I don't think I do, I don't know how to check, and I cannot see where to add them if I don't.

Can anyone help - the idea is to be able to communicate via usb0 but usb0 doesn't appear in /sys/class/net

Can anyone help?

Welcome to Linux Questions!

Try running:
The modules that the kernel is using are in the output.

What distribution are you running?

This may help as well.

I checked in my file system and you should have lo, p2p, wlp7so in sys/class/net.

Sorry I don't know more I have never tried this method through sys/class/net/usb communication before.
