Have you checked to see if there is a BIOS update for the Dell? Or some firmware update for one of the periphals in the Dell? Or have you checked to see if there is no firmware update for one of the perphs, but that particular linux driver WON'T work unless you have a later edition of that perph. Some manufacturer's update their firmware in the later made products, but don't allow for updating the older products. So the only way to update the firmware in those cases is buy a new router, controller card, whatever.
