i cannot connect to fedora channel on

when i run /join #fedora
it says :
#fedora : Yon need to be identified to join that channel
how could i join that channel ?
maybe it is not very suitable to ask that question here,
but i am a newbie for irc as well as linux,
so forgive me.
if anyone knows,
plz tell me.
