Hi,

Please post what you've tried, and the result of each action. Also, it might be useful to paste the content of the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

One approach to X troubles is to remove this file and force X to reconfigure the screen when it detects this file is missing (after a reboot or X restart).

blacky_5251,

thank you, I followed your idea of removing the xorg.config, and all went well. Thanks for the tip.

hi blackey_5251,
thanks for your help although i solved the problem any how by other methods... i think the main problem with my configuration was that i didnt choose the right video card for the settings. when i chose the right video card (>System>Administration>Display>Hardware>and the model of your video card) and restart the machine i the problem was sloved.

Glad to hear you're working again. Removing the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf would have forced the same process, by reconfiguring X and recreating the file when it was restarted.
