I can't remove or change XFCE menu icons
I have an acer aspire one running with linux os.....i am having problems with the xfce 4 panel, by mistake it put on my panel multiple icons of the same kind, like 3 clock, 2 turn computer off icons, and 3 other of the same kind...when i try to open the panel to drag and drop them back to where they come from...the icons become invisible, giving me no way to drop and drag them back...this issue has also caused some of my programs like my wifi, to become unavailable, which used to run also in the bottom where these multiple appear...I am new to xfce and need to know step by step what to do....please i haven't used my computer in days, and am now in the library asking for help....thank you for taking time to read this...
my email is fmarty0515@yahoo.com if you wish to reply through there...again thank you.. |
Just in case..
Had you try to right-click the icons you want to remove??? Have you the option "remove" in the context menu (that appears when you do right-click)?

su (enter) (password) cd /mnt/home/.local/share/applications/wine/programs (enter) ls (enter)(this will then show you a listing of your programs mine were loaded from wine my example follows) rm -rf DVD43 (enter) Right click on your desktop to open xfce to see if the program has been removed, it worked on mine, to find were your files are use the following command in terminal find / -name *.desktop -exec grep DVD43 {} \; -print Hope this helps. p.s I have learnt all this and more in the last 8 weeks with the purchase of my acer running linpus lite |
