Please keep your posts in one thread so that it is easier for us to help you =)

Try typing

init 3

and then

init 5

:) Now if nothing happens please type ps -a and copy the output here =).

init # are jsut #'s, each one gets assinded a script to follow when entered, these can be changed (kinda i tryed to change 0 and 6 (halt and reboot) to difrent #, but the stupid programs that use them have them hardwired so it got fussy when i run thsoe progrmas), neways just type startx, thatll start the x server and run the init script (it installed it to /etc/X11/xinit/* theres only 1 file tehre so a * is good, i dont wanna remeember everyhitng :) )

Thanks for that too SciYro
I'll try it out to see what happen

I tried "init 3"
and "ini 5"

This is what I get in here

[root@localhostroot]# init 3
INIT:Switching to run level : 3
INI: Sending processes the TERM signal

[root@localhost root]# Starting pcmcia
Starting automount no mount point defined

That's it

I just can't get to the Desktop .
