I can't install SuSE Linux
 

Hello,
I just bought SuSE Linux office desktop 8.1. I went into BIOS and set my computer to boot off of the CD-ROM first. However, it will not boot off of the CD. I put in the first CD, and then the second. I changed around BIOS, and I just can't get it to work. This is probably just a stupid mistake, but if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

What do you meen by not being able to boot. Does the machine try to read the CD and fails. Or does the bios fail to attempt to boot from the CD rom. What error messages if any do you get from the screen.

Also, is this an older CD-ROM? I had problems with my old laptop reading the CD. I had to reboot or ctrl-alt-del 6-10 times before the CD would get past the 1st sentence of the boot process.

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific.
What I mean is that the computer continues to boot as windows me. It won't boot from the CD. And yes, it is a pretty old CD-ROM.

Sorry for the stupid question,but: you did save the new bios settings,didnt you?
You might try temporarily excluding the hard drive from the boot order entirely to see what that does.Also try running the rawrite app from windows to make a boot floppy.

Make a boot disk and the modules disks. It should work with them. Everything you need is located on the cdrom and can be done with windows.

How do I create a boot disk? I am not really familiar with Windows. And which files go in it? Thank you.

If you have access to a windows computer you can load the CD and navigate to the dosutils folder and double-click on the rawrite icon.Rawrite will create the boot floppy for you.
Here's a Redhat guide for using rawrite in ms-dos.
