I can't get the 3d accelaration working

:newbie:

I installed suse linux 9.0 prof. on my compaq laptop (evo n1020v), with a radeon igp340m (rs200m). The problem is, like you have read in the topic, is that suse doesn't recognise the 3d card properly. It has the rs200 drivers, but not the rs200m, so I can't get the 3d acceleration working :( .

I have searched on the internet for solutions but I couldn't find the right anwsers (or I didn't understand them  )

I have a compaq presario 2100 and I have the radeon igp320M (I think...might be 340M too) and I found the following links:

Look under video configuration, that will apply to you as well.

Basically it means that 1) You need to get kernel 2.6 and 2) You need to get the CVS version of Xfree86, apply a patch (link is on the page above) and compile it...then it will all work.

I haven't done it yet because frankly...compiling XFree86 is scaring me a bit since I have a working system...*sigh* but I'll soon bite the bullet and do it.
