I can't get my webcam to work on my laptop

I can't get my Micro Innovations webcam to work on my laptop. I put the disk in my disk drive that lead me through the installing process. It installed just fine, but when I went to use it the box came up blank. I clicked on the "capture" tab, the on the "start capture subtab, and it froze up, and ended the program. When I first click on the icon for my webcam under my start menu, an error comes up saying, "Sorry, you have no video capture hardware." I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem. I'm not going to take videos with my webcam, I just want to be able to take pictures, but also have webcam sessions on AIM. So, what should I do?
