I basicly need help to describe my problem..Screen is cut in half, when there is movement

I think i saw this problem somewere else, but i dont know how to search for this issue.

I run kubuntu on an small htpc. The PC is connected to my TV via HDMI. Everything is fine until there is some movement. One half of the screen is a little off. Like this: http://i.stack.imgur.com/mmAXl.jpg
I have this problem, when the screensaver is running, when I play video files like avi and so on and when I play a video game.

The horizontal line, where the latency appears, moves after reboot, but is otherwise stable. I changed the cable, tried a difrent TV without any different result. This happens when I see a video or when the screensaver is playing.

I tried to change the videocodec, but maybe i didn't do it right.

Please, please, please help me somehow.

This looks like screen tearing, which occurs when VSYNC is not enabled in your video driver. Which videocard do you have and which driver do you use?

Hi oberan...

Welcome to the forum

One way to find the information TobiSGD requested is to open a terminal and post the results of...

Code:
lspci -nnk | grep VGA -A 12
Regards...

Thank you so much for answering.
The grafic card is "on board". I checked for driver updates, and if I could change some settings, but I I couldn't.
I will post more information about my driver, when I come home.

it was some intel driver stuff. If you suffer the same problem, follow the link.

"screen tearing" is now added to my vocabulary.
