I am unable to update

I have been running off my LinuxOSCD for about 2 months.
I installed the CD as it stated to do and everything works fine.

When I attempt to update it to a newer version, it goes thru fine on everything. I used the terminal and typed in a command about a week ago that this site stated to use for an update.

I then restarted the computer as it prompted me to do. When I did so, my computer then noticed an error and had to redo the entire CD process.

Please help me

Did you perhaps boot off the live cd again, instead of the installed system?

No, cd is out of tray and works great. and the LinuxOSCD is the Live CD correct.

When it starts up, it says Boot Linux OS

The front of the cd that i installed states, PC Linux OS 2009

Oh, PC Linux OS. Sorry, I know nothing about that distro: except that it is based on Mandriva.. which I also don't know about.

PCLinuxOS is a spin off Mandrivia, which in turn started off as a Red Hat offshoot. However, for package management PCLinuxOS use APT, Advanced Package Management (Debian in origin). You can use it either at the command line (command is apt-get with tons of possible arguments) or through GUI. Look for a program called Synaptic, which provides a very friendly front-end.

Their home web site is excellent: http://pclinuxos.com/?page_id=2.
