Smile I am not able to ping windows machine through my virtual redhat linux machine which


My windows machine IP is 192.168.1.2 my linux machine ip is 192.168.1.3 gateway is 192.168.1.1 for both I can access internet from both machines however i am only able to ping from windows machine to linux other way I am getting ICMP response as destination host unreachable ... I am newbie in linux i appreciate any one explain what is the cause for this.linux machine is virtual machine running on the same windows 7 host...

I believe by default Windows won't respond to pings. Can you ping it from a separate machine on your network (not a virtual machine)? If no, I'd say that nothing is wrong, it's just Windows being Windows.
