I am new to linux how do i get a Linux installation CD

I am new to linux. I am facinated by the concept of open source and I will like to get the linux operating system working on my system. The problem is how to get the installation CD for it. I do not have a fast internet connection, when i tried downloading, I had a frustrating experience. what can I do? How do i get a linux CD which I can install on my PC so that I can start learning to use it

Hi.

Ubuntu linux will send you a free CD. https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ This is a good distro for people who are new to Linux - although I do not prefer it myself.

I don't know whether there are newsagents in Lokoja who stock Linux magazines. A Linux CD with a magazine is how I got started.

There are also online shops which sell Linux for a fairly low price (compared to Microsoft ...) You can search yourself or try looking at the ones advertised at http://distrowatch.com

Good luck.
