I've only used Virtualbox on linux and have run Win XP with Office 2007 enterprise. I am running dual core amd at 3150 mhz and 4gb ram. I gave xp 192 mb ram, which is the default, and it is pretty fast. It boots from the time I click it on in virtualbox to the xp desktop is probably six or seven seconds.

I think it was slightly faster when I ran kubuntu than it is on mandriva.

I think that quite a few of the major distros include virtualbox in the standard repositories. I'm running it on Suse 11.1. I installed it with Yast and followed a tutorial that I got via google to set it up. I don't remember which tutorial. It was fairly easy to do.
