Talking I'll get there yet.....Thanx all....


I just got Slack 8.1 installed on my Compaq Presario 5000 (POS.) It went well about the 15th try. X works, and I can play Tetris, or Xtris, or Ktris, or whatever. Just wanted to say thanks for all the "stupid", "silly", or "dumb" questions that I didn't have to ask because you answered them here.

Ah, a fellow lurker.
Sometimes people get frustrated with repeat questions. I found reading various opinions and answers very interesting and useful when I was new to Linux. Some questions do get asked way too often though. It is kind of mean to expect people to rewrite instructions that are already available over and over. Links are good. Clarification is good.

2damncommon: yes indeed it can be frustrating but you do have to remember sometimes that a n00b dont know what he dont know :-)
