I' m not able to use usb pendrive/ipod on mandriva 06

Hello Users,

There is a pc at my workplace on which mandriva 06 runs and i work on it most of the recent times and i' m not able to use my penrive on it. However, i use that pendrive on other pc's that runs mandriva 06,08.

I don't know what is the problem with it or it may be blocked ? But how would i' ll come about it?

Thanks,
simer

You could connect the usb pen drive to the machine and then check with dmesg if its detected. And if its then you can manually mount it. If usb has been blocked, it can most probably be done from the BIOS settings.

Thanks for support

If it is not detected then is it blocked? and if blocked from BIOS then can we alter the settings?

Thanks,

Well it depends on how it has been blocked. If it is not detected then it is blocked if you can confirm that the hardware is in working condition. Are you sure the hardware port where you are connecting the pen drive is working and not bad?
If you know it is then could be blocked. You can change the settings in the BIOS is you have sufficient rights to do that. But make sure you comply with your company policies else you could be in trouble.
