Angry Humas Foxsat won't recognise WD hard drive though EXT3 format

Hi
I have read a thread but my Humax Foxsat still refuses to recognise the attached 2Tb WD Elements Hard Drive even though I have had it re-formatted to EXT3 by a professional Linux supplier.
I have tried both USB slots- a standard 4Gb memory stick is immediately recognised- the newly re-formatted WD still comes up with the error message.

error message

first on the screen appears 'out of range'- then in middle of screen 'does not recognise USB device' 'please reformat USB drive using EXT3 or FAT16/32 on your PC'

Since I managed to re-format my complete Humax hard drive last night, losing nearly 70 hours of Xmas recorded TV, when I tried the 'hidden menu'- please beware of this feature- I never said 'yes' to anything- was just browsing possibilities!

An online technician has suggested that the 2TB is to big for my system- but other threads have indicated that others have succeeded, with this set-up, after a struggle!
