A few nights ago I installed Linux Mint 18.1, and now Hulu won't work. I have tried upgrading flash and adding the hal layer, but neither worked. I am also using Firefox. One t thing I find really odd is that the commercials will play just fine, but no shows or movies.
What version of Firefox are you using and did you install the older standalone 11.2 version of Flash? The Pepper (PPAPI) version won't work. Also, where (from what location) and how did you install HAL?

I have flash version 25.0 r0. As for HAL, I found instructions to install from terminal at 2 different places. I used both and they did different things....
I can pick up a poisonous spider with my bare hands and take it outside, but I'm clueless when it comes to computer stuff.

Hi...
I'm going to need more detail that what you've given. Please take a moment to read the information here. It might help with knowing what we're looking for from folks. Also, please show us the sites where you went and what they did specifically.
Most likely, you're using the Pepper version of flash and as previously mentioned, this version will not work with Hulu. You will need to download and install version 11.2 from Synaptic and configure Firefox to use it instead of the Pepper version, if needed.

That's pretty brave, kind of reminds me of the folks here and here.

Reason: Corrections.
This is Hulu? Both Chrome and Chromium gave me "There was a problem playing this protected content. (Error Code: 3336)" a little while ago while attempting to access a show in Yahoo View, which is the free content Hulu transferred over to Yahoo not that long ago. I think it's still technically Hulu, however.

Short (off-topic) list:
Fear of the Walking Dead
Rick and Morty
Legion
Gotham
Deadbeat
Broad City
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Golan the Insatiable
What About Bob?
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
You can add that in the package manager and\or source.list but I suspect firmware won't play much of a difference, your hardware is working.
Hi...
That's true (and thank you,) perhaps there's some non-free files included with the firmware that allow you to watch Hulu on Chrome/Chromium. Otherwise, I'm not sure how else to explain how it works for you.
It works for me using Firefox, I'm happy with that.

Is funny, here the commercials usually don't play. I have not tried disabling Adblock Plus lately but last I did still only a few played and I blame maybe their formats or HULU... who blames me during the non-playing commercials something like: "please disable ad block, this is how we offer cheaper TV*" I tried that HULU and only some work either way! LOL
Poisonous spider, yikes but we can learn(.) If you need any help on post #5 and your command line just let us know...

Ahhh, I see. Might have something to do with the included non-free firmware.
Nope.
jamison20000e hit it on the head...I use the same ad-block stuff, and you often times need to go through and 'allow' an ad to play, otherwise the content will not. Privacy badger can also sometimes be the culprit.
