Huh Where is Xconfigurator on Fedora C1???
 

I need Xconfigurator, or a similar app that will let me configure my ATI Radeon 9600 (AGP 4x) .
I remember having one in RH9.

Aahhh. I do not know!!!

I just got Fedora up two hours ago, it is good, but I have not seen any particular good improvements over RH9 except for the missing Xconfigurator, dang

During Anaconda, (or the kudzu part of anaconda) recognized my Graphics Card as a Generic VEGA whatever thingy.

I remember from previous RH distros that during setup you had a window aksing you what to do to your Graphics Card, there was a memory selector, there was a Resolution selector, right now the resolution is on 1024x768, 85 hz, i believe 16bit color. Aahh!

PS anyone know of a good place to get good free 3d linux games? My distro only came with tux racer :(

PPPS I have installed the official ATI driver for Radeon 9600.

PPPPS Is there any RC flite simulators for linux? Anyone know about FMS-like sims?

redhat-config-xfree86 is the command you so desire.

I'm trying to execute the redhat-config-xfree86 command but I can't get it to work in Fedora Core 2 Test 1

I'm a newb, so there is probably a relatively easy answer. I've copied the message I get from the terminal below.

If you type redhat-config and hit tab a couple times it will tell you all the choices you can type in. Try that.

Also, this is just my opinion, but if you are too much of a noob, you should probably stick to official releases and not beta and test releases. There may be a major problem, but with your lack of experience you won't be able to identify it as your problem or thier problem (of course, that happens with official releases as well... just less often).

You're probably right about sticking to non-beta releases. I'm in the process of downloading Fedora Core 1 and will give that a try. I'm a MS Windows administrator by profession and a Mac OS X user by night, so I'm not too afraid of giving Linux a shot.

Will the xconfigurator run in a Terminal in KDE or do I need to do something special at startup. I'm trying to change my mouse and adjust the position of my monitor (I've tried to no avail in the Control Center).

Well, I don't think Xconfigurator is included with RH products any more. I usually do the redhat-config-xfree86 when I'm not in the GUI. I imagine it will work from a commanline userspace, however. Never hurts to try.... Well, in this case anyways.

One more question...

From what I've read in other posts, redhat-config-xfree86 won't run in the terminal, so I think I have to startup without the GUI or Xwindows. How do you get Fedora to startup without the GUI? Is it some type of key sequence at boot?

Go here. There are different ways to do it. You can use the init 3 thing listed in the first post. There are some other hints in there as well.

I went to the post that you linked and it dealt with Security Issues and I didn't see anything regarding booting up without the GUI.
