huge slowdown after a couple of hours

hi there,

Im a mythtv user, and new to linux, I thought myth would be a great way for me to learn linux. My question has to deal with my backend server for mythtv. I recently upgraded to newer hardware on my knoppmyth installation of mythtv. I went from an AMD 1800+ to a Intel p4 3ghz HT setup. Everything went great as knoppmyth re-reconized the hardware. My problem comes from after a couple of hours of use, i end up getting extremly high cpu usage.

Top reports this:

Cpu(s): 0.0% us, 0.1% sy, 0.0% ni, 0.0% id, 99.8% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.1% si

And it takes for ever for the sytem to do anything. I would like to not blow away the installation as i have a ton of shows recorded and a huge DB.

I can try to post any log files, and other informaiton for you guys. Thanks for you help.

Looks like there's something going wrong with I/O, and
the processes are spending all their time waiting, struggling
to get done whatever they need to do. Check the output
of 'ps aux', have a goooooood look at the column with the
process status (stat).

Cheers,
Tink
