hub 1-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1 & 2

Hi all,
I just installed Debian Etch on a Pentium II. During startup, i suppose after loading USB drivers, i get bombared with the following error messages:
hub 1-0:1.0: over-current change on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: over-current change on port 2
the system still boots into the GUI, and is quite usable from there, but i cant use any other tty as they get flooded with the above messages.
Does anyone know how to disable USB? or a more sophisticated solution?
there is no entry in fstab, but listed in mtab nontheless.
Cheers

to disable USB add these lines:

blacklist uhci_hcd
blacklist ohci_hcd
blacklist ehci_hcd

to:

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
