Question Htpc

I was curious about loading up a computer of mine with a linux distro and some sort of DVR software. I have a AMD64 3500+ w/1 gig ram on MSI mobo, which has 5.1 optical audio out... 200gig SATA hd, nvidia gforce 6800 pro vid card, Hauppauge WinPVR250 & ATI HDTV Wonder.
I would like to utilize the 64 bit processing and have a stable machine that I can use a firefly remote to control ...
is this all possible without having to go to school ?
thanks !

The fedoralogy site should get you through it. Also knoppmyth, but I don't know if they have a 64bit version. As I always suggest my favorite, gentoo can meet both of those requirements.

Those specs are overkill if this machine is soley a PVR
