HTML login script

After some looking around a bit on the net and on this forum I thought it might be best to ask for some help.

Here is my problem.

I've been trying to figure out how to write a login script that lets you authenticate through a web page, but will take you to your own user environment.

In there the user should have access to his mail, his MySQL database and access to stop and start custom application the user is running through his web space.

Is there a way someone knows how to write a script like that, or where I can find one. Or... someone that can explain me on how to do this.

Also to start and stop services after login in as a user.
How can that be done?

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help provided.

You'd be looking at a scripting language such as PHP or CGi rather than pure HTML. Solutions do exist for this kind of thing such as CPanel or Plesk, often used by hosting companies to do just what you're after, so maybe have a look at those rather than trying to script it from scratch yourself.

Hi there,

tnx for your response.

Yes, I forgot to mention it should be a combination of PHP / CGI with HTML.

Problem with Plesk and CPanel is that they offer to much of stuff I don't need.

I Only need to do those stuff I've mentioned earlier.

The other scripts are way to complex for the purpose I'm trying to create / find a script that does this.

First I would need a web page where you can login. (from the main page)
That login page would take that user (under water of course, he wouldn't be aware of this) to his own user environment.

That page/script would redirect him to a page that is in his own home directory or would generate a page with a set of predefined options he has access to.

Like stopping a service he's running, or accessing his MySQL database (without having to login again)

Those are the only 3 things that would be necessary for me. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hope I've made myself a bit more clearer than before.
Sorry if that confused you.
