Hp Tape Drive Input/Output Error

Hi,

I have got and Hp internal tape drive ( Hp storage works DAT 72 Digital Data Storage) and got fixed it on my Hp server ( Hp proliant ML570) and attached to SCSI card and it got detected. I'm using RedHat 4.

In the hardware browser it is showing me the following
Hp C7438A
Manufacturer - Unknown
Driver - none or builtin
Device - /dev/st0

when I type the command after inserting the tape in the tape drive,
mt -f /dev/st0 status its giving me /dev/st0: Input/output error

I have even downdoaled the driver of the device from the Hp site and run it for the run.

Can you plz recognize what is the problem and give me the solution.

Is the driver not installed properly or is there any problem.

Regards

Ammar_linux
