I did a new test today with "lpr". After some work with setup I could get the printer
to print out in right size but without color. Code: lpr file.pdf
It seems to me that the problem have with color to do also for this command.

Click on Administration, then Add Printer. When the prompt asks you for Username/Password make sure to use root and root password, not your user credentials. If its a network printer, it might "discover" it on the next page. Or for a USB local you can choose HP Printer (HPLIP) and choose from different drivers. last step is to click on Set Printer Defaults and your done.
I use Arch, so do not have the same (rather old) versions of software as you. (My cups is 2.1.3).
But your printer has been supported through hplip for many years. You should bring up the HP Device Manager: the General section on the Print Settings tab has an option to set the printer for Color, High Quality Grayscale or Black Only Grayscale (excuse US spelling, HP's fault, not mine!)
