Question HP 3930 and Modem............

I am using Fedora Core 4, and My hp3930 Deskjet printer and my Winmodem I have two modems installed actually and are´t playing nice with each other. I did download the hplip for the printer and the driver for the modem, I have a general grasp of the how to install, but for some reason, I think I am missing something, because I cannot get it to work. I would really appreciate any help or pointing me in the right direction. I am running a dual boot system with Windows XP home, mostly because I have to keep windows around to do my printing, and online stuff till I can get all my ¨parts¨to play nice with each other. I ran scanmodem, and can give someone the info if they would be willing to babysit me through this.

Not sure about the printer, but winmodems aren't worth the hassle and also generally have reduced speed than an external serial modem. I got a Cendyne serial modem for $10 downtown somewhere and it works like a champ. I spent a bunch of hours trying to get my winmodem to work only to have it work sporadically. Best $10 I ever spent... (At least while I was still on dialup!)
