yes, it is a windows network(XP clients and 2003 server). The 2003 server is also my DHCP server, as well as my DNS server. My Linux system when booting, receives it's IP and it's address for the DNS server, but does not register itself on the DNS server. So when communicating with my Linux box, I have to use the IP address for the Linux box, opposed to its computer name.
Example from Linux: ping xpcomputername
that works fine
from windows: ping linuxcomputername
host name could not be found
Any ideas??
