[SOLVED] howto read file in real time

Hi

I have a log file that I would like to examine during some changes under process that writes to this log.
Is there some way to open this file and read in real time changes written to it ?

Hello,

Open a terminal and type the following:

Code:

tail -f <logfilename>

That will open your logfile in 'follow' mode. If you now open another terminal and execute your command(s) you can monitor in realtime what gets written to the log. Is that what you mean? Hope it helps.

The tail-command should be exactly what you are looking for.
