Howto make local authentication in Samba with OpenSuse10.3

Hi all,

I'm new in this forum, and I would like to ask some question. I want to install file server using Samba to connect to Windows and Linux machine. Anyway I want to make that file server have some authentication procedure. But the authentication is not based on LDAP or Active Directory, but based on local account in the Samba machine.

The point is that I want to share some files but not all user in my network can access all file only some part of it and it requires authentication to access it.

I've been trying to configure smb.conf and it didn't work. It always give me error that saying the file is doesn't exist. FYI the file that I want to share is in different HDD, is there any problem with that?

Well I'm hoping to get some hand here, thanks

Best Regards,

Tazlambert
