Howto install QT 3.1.1

I'm attempting to install KDE 3.1 .. now I read a thread here about starting with the QT installation first .. im very confused on how to do this .. anyone have a quick guide to getting QT installed? For some reason I'm have a bad time with this.

Thanks for any info you can provide me

Is this slackware and did you download the source or the packages? If packages you can just do a general command like installpkg *.tgz from the directory they are d/l'd into. First making sure you remove the old kde and qt packages first. If source, then you still gotta remove the old stuff but you'll wanna install them in a semi-strict order like you said, do qt first and then the rest of kde. There should be a readme that says something about what to do?
