We have linux (redhat) running and it is using ldap for our logins. What command can I use to. What is the command at command line to get the name of the current user?

Thanks

the "id" and "whoami" commands tell you who you are. this has nothing to do with ldap though.

Oh am (sound of slapping self on head). It should be the same at any one time. Yes. If you force ldap then regardless of the shell you will always be a "valid" userid.
