how virtualizate my own operative system + virtualbox

Hi
I need to know how i could virtualizate my own operative system with virtualbox

Your question is not clear. Virtualbox is a type 2 hypervisor, which means it must run as an application inside an operating system. You can use it to run a second "guest" operating system, but it can't run the host operating system.

ok...but.. i am a newbie in this linux world... my question now is how i could know what kind to virtualbox i have...My version is Oracle Virtualbox 4.1.12 Ubuntu... how i could know that??

I'm still not understanding your question. You're running Virtualbox 4.1.12 (which is a very old version and should be updated due to numerous bug fixes and improvements), what do you need to know about it?

well... what i need to know is how i could virtualizate my own operative system?? i mean... i am running ubuntu 12.04... i need make a virtual pc since my own operative system... i live in cuba i don't have the possibilty to connect to internet and download the updates programs... so i would like that with my few possibilty go ahead in this Linux world

As I said before, you can't virtualize the host operating system, because virtualbox has to run inside the host. If you turned your Ubuntu installation into a guest, where would it run? What would you use to open virtualbox to start your guest? Or is there another operating system you want to use as a host that you haven't mentioned yet?

I don't understand what not having access to the internet or updates has to do with things.

I think he is asking how he can make a copy of his host OS and run that copy as a guest OS.

I'm sure there are ways using live distros and cloning tools, but it's almost always easier and simpler to just backup the necessary files/dirs and install from scratch.
