maybe there's a way to map a certain key on your keyboard to that symbol? What Window Manager are you using?

I have the same question as Xavius.
I have a US kbd so `, ~ are no problem, but I would like to know how to do alt-keypad characters such as é, â (alt-130, alt-131, I'm using my 'doze box for this).
