how tocnfigure dual boot :ubnto1104 and windows 7,?
i have win7 already installed and working well on my hard drive and [FONT="Arial Black"]then i wanted to install ubunto 11 04 but i had a lot of problems .After several trials , I succeded at insalling ubunto (i had a message telling that installation was successfully done and asking me to reboot ) But after reboot I had no boot options . That is the boot went directly to win7 . Who can tell me how to fix this problem?
If I don't find an adequate answer to my problem I will format the ubunto partition and give the free space to win7 (by the way I have given 50 giga space to ubunto ) |
If your BIOS can, you can take that boot loader, but it supports most only MBR load, so doen't support linux load. So you have to install grub or lilo in the MBR of your linux HD. And if I am right you have win and linux installed on the same HD.
Before you install grub lilo or an other boot loader in the MBR of yout HD you better first get involved with the win MBR recovery process and then install a bootloader. |
If you had windows 7 already installed and your system still boots only to windows 7 it is because you did not install the Ubuntu Grub bootloader to the master boot record. You can either do that or download EasyBCD to widnows 7 and create an entry using it for Ubuntu.

hi, if you want a simple fix to this, simply install linux mint 11, it facilitates windows by installing linux beside windows or alternativly, it allows you to install windows within linux via a package called virtualbox. Linux mint 11 is based on ubuntu 11.04 and is good for linux newbies like myself.

Note: You can only run one O.S at a time, if you want to run multiple operating systems at the same time you need to have virtualization software, there are a lot free out there. rbe |
