How to Write the CD in Linux?
Dear All,
I want to write the CD in the Linux, i am using RH9, i have seen CD writer software in System Tools/More system Tools, in that window i have transfer the data in the data to write window by dragging into the window, but when i am clicking on the record, it is doin nothing and when i click the option change recorder, it shows choose recorder, model and Manufacturer, but that window contains nothing, can you please show me the method how to write the CD? or what is the problem in the method i am following? Thanks, Nishant |
I would try to use 'K3b' for my burning. It's got a very simple user interface and has great sensible defaults. You might also want to consider upgrading from RH9 to RHEL4 or FC5.

Yep, k3b is about the only KDE app I use on my desktop. Works perfectly.

cdrecord works, but I love the simplicity of K3b for quick work. My girlfriend, who has no idea how to use a command line, can use k3b with no problems. It's a flexibility/ease tradeoff, as are many things.

Dear All,
Thanks for the help to all of you, but as some of u ve wrote, is it necessary to use it from the command line? or i can simply install it and start to use it as other softwares does in the windows? And if it should be used from the command line, then what commands i should use and from where i will get those commands? Thanks, Nishant |
k3b is a graphical program, but you'll need some KDE libs to get it to work.
cdrecord is the backend for pretty much all cd writing software in Linux Code:
man cdrecord |
