Hi,

I've had a notebook keyboard that wasn't too reliable (bad shift key). Until I got a new one I regularly typed my readable string (notepad or alike in windows, or terminal in windows) and copy/pasted into, among other things, putty.

Do make sure no-one looks over your shoulder when you do this

When I've had problems like this I type some characters of my password into the username box. If I use a £ for example and I am not sure whether the keyboard layout is correct.
