How to write files to a dual WinXP from Suse 9.0
 

As I'm now trying to learn Linux, I've been using it more often than Winxp, but as I have downloaded files to be used in the second WinXP OS, I need help on setting-up my Suse 9.0 OS to help me write those files to WinXP
or help on accessing those files from the Windows file explorer.

The problem is that you can't (safety) write to XP because it uses NTFS. It is possible to compile that ability into your kernel but writing would be dangerous. You can't access the files from windows file explorer because your suse is probably reiserfs or ext3 which windows can't read. What you need to do is burn the data to a cd, transfer it on a network and get in later, or find free space on your harddrive and make in FAT32 because linux can write to FAT32 but not NTFS

Yep I'm also a newbie but what I have done is create a small FAT32 partition which of course is automatically visible in windowsxp and because i have mounted it in Linux I can easily read and write to it regardless of the os i'm using. I find it very handy indeed.

I created a fat32 partition and dreated a file nemed someting like "transfer file to windows" and now I can transfer my files to and from Windows XP.
